Family members were left in shock upon discovering that their deceased relative’s body, which had been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu, Ogun State, was missing. According to reports, the family had traveled from Ijebu-Ode to the hospital on Friday to retrieve the remains of the female corpse, which had been stored there for over four months in preparation for burial. Upon their arrival, they were informed that the body could not be located.

In response to the incident, the management of OOUTH expressed their concern, describing the situation as a mix-up involving the corpse within the hospital. Dr. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, the Chief Medical Director, issued a statement confirming that the hospital had received a report regarding the missing female corpse coinciding with the family’s visit to retrieve it. She emphasized that such an occurrence was unprecedented in the hospital’s mortuary.

Dr. Fatungase indicated that the hospital management was collaborating with relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances
