In response to the recent Supreme Court judgment affirming Governor Peter Mbah’s victory in Enugu State, the youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has emphasized the need for political stakeholders to prioritize unity and development in the state.
The National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, conveyed the organization’s disappointment over the prolonged legal dispute, expressing concern over the substantial financial resources expended on the litigation. Nnabuike highlighted Ohanaeze’s prior appeals to the Labour Party governorship candidate, Barr Chijioke Edeoga, urging restraint and emphasizing the potential adverse impact of prolonged legal battles on governance.
Despite the protracted legal proceedings, Ohanaeze called on Edeoga to accept Governor Mbah’s extended hand of collaboration for the overall interest of the state. Emphasizing the paramount importance of Enugu’s progress and development, Nnabuike emphasized the need for collective commitment to the state’s well-being.
Moreover, the organization encouraged Governor Mbah to focus on delivering meaningful development to the people of Enugu State, now that legal obstacles and distractions have been resolved. Nnabuike expressed confidence in the governor’s capacity to exceed citizens’ expectations and cater to the state’s governance needs.
The Supreme Court ruling serves as a pivotal point for Enugu’s political landscape, urging all parties to set aside differences and pursue collective prosperity. Ohanaeze’s stance underscores the significance of solidarity and efficient governance, heralding a new era of collaboration and progress in Enugu State.
