Citizen Participation Against Corruption Initiative (CPACI) has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to combating corruption in Nigeria. In a recent statement to journalists in Katsina, CPACI Executive Director, Bishir Dauda, commended the President for spearheading a fearless probe into the actions of Mr. Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Dauda emphasized the necessity of holding corrupt individuals accountable, asserting that the probe signifies a pivotal milestone in the fight against corruption. He echoed sentiments expressed by other well-meaning Nigerians, urging for thorough investigations and legal repercussions for those implicated in corrupt practices.
Referring to the contentious ‘Naira Redesign Policy’ and the lack of transparency surrounding its implementation, Dauda underscored the detrimental impact on Nigerian citizens. He also raised concerns about the mismanagement of funds, particularly highlighting Emefiele’s alleged inability to account for a staggering N17.369 trillion through the controversial ‘Ways and Means financing’ scheme.
