In a devastating attack on Christmas Eve, gunmen unleashed chaos and destruction in 15 communities across the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau, Nigeria. The aftermath of this horrific event left 96 people dead, 221 houses razed, and numerous vehicles and motorcycles destroyed.
According to the police spokesman in the state, DSP Alfred Alabo, the assailants carried out simultaneous attacks in the aforementioned areas, resulting in a trail of destruction and loss. The villages of Ndun, Ngyong, Murfet, Makundary, Tamiso, Chiang, Tahore, Gawarba, Dares, Meyenga, Darwat, and Butura Kampani in Bokkos Local Government Area bore the brunt of the attack, with over 79 fatalities and extensive property damage.
In addition to these heart-wrenching losses, the attackers also targeted communities in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area, including NTV, Hurum, and Darawat, where 17 individuals tragically lost their lives.
