The Bishop of the Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Mathew Kukah, has called upon Nigerian leaders to uphold truth and demonstrate strength in addressing the nation’s challenges. During an interactive session with the media as part of Christmas celebrations in Sokoto, he emphasized the need for leaders to prioritize the well-being of citizens and to formulate clear, constructive policies.

Highlighting Nigeria’s abundant human and mineral resources, Bishop Kukah underscored the mismanagement of these assets and the detrimental impact of a lack of patriotism on the country’s development.

He urged governments at all levels to focus on meeting the citizens’ needs and aspirations through well-defined policy frameworks. Additionally, he cautioned against the accumulation of illicit funds in foreign banks, emphasizing the need to recognize and support talented individuals within the nation’s institutions.

Regarding the fuel subsidy removal and security challenges such as kidnapping, Bishop Kukah stressed the importance of implementing measures to alleviate the associated burdens and create a prosperous nation.

Furthermore, he called for a credible direction and a solid foundation of faith and hope to restore the country’s glory. He advised leaders to prioritize policies with meaningful impacts and to focus on infrastructure development and combating corruption through scientific means.

Bishop Kukah also emphasized the necessity of restoring hope to the impoverished and vulnerable segments of society. He appealed to Nigerians to maintain faith in the country while emphasizing the importance of self-examination and repentance for national progress.

As the nation grapples with multifaceted challenges, Bishop Kukah’s insightful counsel serves as a reminder of the essential qualities required of Nigeria’s leaders to navigate these turbulent times and lead the nation towards a brighter future.
