Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, conveyed heartfelt condolences following the passing of Ghali Na’Abba, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives. Na’Abba’s legacy continues to serve as a profound example of leadership, inspiring political figures to emulate his exceptional qualities.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, Abbas expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Na’Abba, who passed away at the age of 65 in Abuja. Na’Abba made significant contributions during his tenure, representing the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency and achieving success on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1999.

Abbas praised him, stating, “former Speaker Ghali Na’Abba was one of Nigeria’s finest lawmakers, a dedicated, committed, and patriotic Nigerian who served his fatherland with zeal.”
During his influential leadership as the Speaker of the 4th House, Na’Abba played an instrumental role in shaping Nigeria’s democracy. He was lauded for fostering unity, stability, and advocating for the establishment of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) through the first and only successful veto of a sitting president.
Abbas further emphasized Na’Abba’s enduring impact, noting, “Long after his departure from the parliament, he remained politically active and continued to encourage and motivate us all. We will truly miss him.”
Extending his condolences to the people and government of Kano State, Abbas emphasized, “Indeed, we have lost a great Nigerian, a legislative pillar. My heart goes out to the Na’Abba family. My prayers are with them at this moment of grief.”
Na’Abba, born on September 27, 1958, was a graduate of Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape. His unparalleled dedication and service to the nation will be cherished and remembered.
