A tragic accident occurred on Sunday when a truck fell onto a commercial bus at Ojuelegba, heading towards Fadeyi in Lagos State, resulting in the loss of eight lives. Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority were present at the scene, working diligently to rescue the victims. According to a statement from the agency, efforts were underway to assist those affected.

The Permanent Secretary of the agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, reported, “A container-laden truck has fallen on a bus at Ojuelegba, inwards Fadeyi. Efforts are currently being made towards rescue and evacuation.” He also noted that while the fallen container has been removed from atop the minibus, it has not yet been completely cleared from the area. Consequently, traffic remains halted, leading to a significant backlog at Alaka. Oke-Osanyintolu urged motorists to exercise patience or seek alternative routes if they were not trapped in the traffic.

An eyewitness recounted that the truck driver attempted to block the bus from overtaking him. Reports indicate that only one out of the nine passengers involved in the incident was rescued alive.
