Governors from the North Central region of Nigeria united in a demonstration of solidarity and compassion by donating N100 million to the victims of the devastating Christmas Eve attacks in Plateau. The orchestrated assault, which occurred in 15 villages across Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas, resulted in the tragic loss of over 115 lives and the destruction of 221 homes. Subsequently, the death toll continued to soar, reaching close to 200 individuals in the aftermath of the assault.

The affected communities in Bokkos Local Government Area included Ndun, Ngyong, Murfet, Makundary, Tamiso, Chiang, Tahore, Gawarba, Dares, Meyenga, Darwat, and Butura Kampani, while in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area, the targeted areas were NTV, Hurum, and Darawat.

During the poignant visit to Governor Caleb Mutfwang in Jos, Chairman of the North Central Governors Forum, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, announced the benevolent gesture. Governor Sule emphasized that the substantial monetary aid was intended to alleviate the suffering of the survivors, underscoring the urgent need to address the harrowing impact of the distressing attacks. Additionally, he unequivocally labeled the assailants as terrorists, advocating for resolute action in response to their heinous acts.

The Governor of Benue, Hyacinth Alia, used the occasion to rally for unity among the people of Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, and Niger states in a concerted effort to thwart the disruptive activities of terrorists in the North Central region. Governor Alia emphasized the imperative of a joint strategy and unwavering determination to safeguard the borders, effectively curbing such menacing threats. He also highlighted the alarming recurrence of unprovoked attacks on farming communities, urging for a proactive and decisive approach to address this escalating issue.

In response, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to his fellow governors for their compassionate visit, reflecting on the unfortunate circumstance that continually brought them together under such distressing circumstances. He fervently expressed his hope for a future where the entire nation would gather on the Plateau not in lamentation, but in celebration.
