The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains undisturbed by the recent wave of defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC), affirming its resilience amid political shifts.
In a statement released in Makurdi, Mr. Bemgba Iortyom, the state PDP Publicity Secretary, conveyed the party’s composed stance on the departure of two officials, Mr. Yandev Amaabai, a National Ex-officio, and Mr. Mbakorlumun Chia, the state Vice-Chairman for Benue North-West Senatorial District, to the APC. He confirmed that both officials are scheduled to be officially received into the APC on Jan. 4.
Emphasizing the PDP’s nonchalance towards the defections, Iortyom extended well wishes to the departing members, acknowledging the prevalent trend of politicians moving from the opposition to the ruling party within Nigeria’s political landscape.
The PDP’s poised response epitomizes its steadfastness in the face of changing political allegiances, demonstrating a strategic and composed approach to the evolving dynamics of party affiliations in Benue State.
