Kenyan President Calls for Dialogue to Resolve Sudan Conflict

Kenyan President William Ruto has urged warring factions in Sudan to pursue dialogue and strive for sustainable peace, emphasizing the significance of the recent Jedda initiative and the involvement of regional organizations in mediation efforts.

During a meeting at State House Nairobi, President Ruto commended the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for their dedication to resolving the Sudan conflict through dialogue and stressed the essential role of the RSF in securing a lasting solution.

Affirming Kenya’s commitment to supporting peace in Sudan, President Ruto stated, “Kenya seeks nothing more than a peaceful resolution and a stable neighbor,” underscoring the country’s willingness to contribute significantly to restoring peace in Sudan.

Echoing President Ruto’s sentiments, RSF General Mohamed Hamdan praised Kenya’s proactive approach to addressing the conflict and expressed support for the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) resolutions, recognizing them as a vital framework for achieving enduring peace and stability in Sudan.

General Hamdan emphasized the Sudanese people’s yearning for a peaceful resolution, highlighting their desire to end displacement and return to normalcy.

The call for dialogue and collaboration between the involved parties signals a crucial step towards resolving the Sudan conflict and fostering long-term stability in the region.
