Kwara PDP Urges Explanation from Lawmakers Over FG’s Rice Intervention

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called upon the nine members of the National Assembly representing Kwara State to address the public regarding the federal government’s rice intervention destined for distribution across their constituencies.

In a statement released on Sunday, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the State Publicity Secretary of Kwara PDP, expressed concern over a viral video featuring Dekeri Anamero, a House of Representatives member from Etsako Federal constituency of Edo State. Anamero claimed that each national assembly member received at least two trailers of rice from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for distribution in their respective constituencies.

Reacting to the video, the PDP representative urged the APC members of the National Assembly from Kwara State to clarify the status of the rice intended for their constituents.

The legislators in question, all members of the APC, include Senator Salihu Mustapha of Kwara Central, Oyelola Ashiru of Kwara South, and Senator Suleiman Sadiq Umar of Kwara North. Additionally, members of the House of Representatives include Raheem Tunji Olawuyi Ajuloopin, Ismail Kayode Tijani, Ahmed Yinka Aluko, MuktahTolani Shagaya, Adam Ahmed Saba, and Mohammed Omar Bio.

“The PDP in Kwara State, after patiently awaiting responses from the APC legislators, notes with concern their prolonged silence which is no longer acceptable,” the statement revealed. “According to Honorable Dekeri’s video, each legislator is said to have received a minimum of 2,400 bags of rice.”

Kwara PDP has demanded prompt explanations from the APC legislators and emphasized the necessity for transparency in accounting for the federal government’s rice intervention. The party reiterated its commitment to upholding the principles of accountability, integrity, and dedicated service to the people.
