Emmanuel Petit, the former Arsenal midfielder, has voiced a significant condition for his ex-club to clinch the Premier League title this season. Petit emphasized the need for Arsenal to bolster their squad with high-quality players in order to mount a serious challenge in the English top-flight league.
Arsenal’s recent performance has been under scrutiny, having secured only one victory in their last seven matchups across various competitions. As things stand, they currently occupy the fourth position in the Premier League table, trailing five points behind the table-toppers, Liverpool.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Petit provided his assessment of Mikel Arteta’s team, expressing, “I always said that I would love Arsenal to win the Premier League but I think it won’t be this year. They need to add more quality players if they want to compete on every table, you know, every three days, and for me at the moment, they are not ready for that. Manchester City are stronger, you know when you look at the bench. With all the respect I have for Arsenal, they don’t have the same quality players on the bench that can make a difference.”
Petit’s insights shed light on the pressing need for Arsenal to reinforce their squad with top-tier talent to fortify their title aspirations. As the Premier League unfolds, all eyes are on Arsenal’s strategic moves in the transfer market and how they address the identified shortcomings in their squad.
