The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has made it compulsory for all eligible prospective corps members to enroll with their National Identification Numbers (NIN) in response to an undercover expose published by DAILY NIGERIAN. The report shed light on numerous deficiencies in the mobilization of corps members.

In a statement released on Wednesday, NYSC’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, disclosed that this new directive stemmed from a meeting between the NYSC management, headed by Director General Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, and the leadership of the National Identification Management Commission (NIMC), led by Director General Abisoye Coker-Odusote, held in Abuja.

During the meeting, Mr. Ahmed emphasized that the collaboration with NIMC regarding corps mobilization would enhance the online registration process for the scheme. While acknowledging the significant support provided by the NYSC integrated system in the mobilization process, he stressed the necessity for further enhancements.

Mrs. Odusote, on the other hand, assured the commission’s willingness to collaborate closely with the NYSC. She expressed confidence that the partnership would streamline the entire mobilization process and effectively address various challenges. Furthermore, she highlighted the commission’s existing partnerships with numerous government agencies and pledged to deliver optimal services to the nation.
