NPFL Reschedules Rivers United vs. Akwa United Match for the Second Time

The Nigeria Premier Football League has made a significant alteration to the matchday 18 schedule, announcing a rescheduled fixture between Rivers United and Akwa United.

Originally slated for the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday, January 14th, 2024, the match will now take place on Tuesday, January 16th, at the same venue, with a kick-off time of 4 pm.

Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer, expressed regret over any inconvenience caused by the date change, emphasizing the league’s commitment to ensuring a fair and competitive environment for all teams.

Rivers United recently suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat against Plateau United in their rescheduled matchday 10 fixture, which took place on Wednesday in Jos. Meanwhile, Akwa United secured a vital 1-0 home victory against Abia Warriors, propelling them out of the relegation zone.

The unexpected rescheduling of this high-stakes encounter adds an extra layer of anticipation and pressure for both teams as they strive for crucial points in the NPFL standings.
