Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has vehemently defended President Bola Tinubu, asserting that Tinubu stands against the looting of public assets. This follows allegations by Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders regarding a recently issued White Paper.
Adeleke refuted claims made by Osun APC leaders, calling on President Tinubu and security agencies to intervene against Governor Adeleke and his ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The allegations were in response to the January 18, 2024, issued White Paper by the Osun State Government, aimed at retrieving public assets allegedly misappropriated by political appointees under the Adegboyega Oyetola administration.
Adeleke, speaking through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, emphasized Tinubu’s commendation of his efforts in cleaning up Osun’s mess, highlighting the President’s disdain for looting public assets. “I have interacted with President Tinubu a lot of times, and I know he appreciates my effort in cleaning the many messes I encountered in Osun,” Rasheed stated.
Adeleke further underscored his commitment to governance without partisan affiliation and his reluctance to pursue political adversaries through anti-graft agencies, despite ample reasons to do so. He revealed the establishment of an Asset Recovery Committee and stressed his administration’s determination to recover all looted government properties, urging previous administration appointees to return such assets.
In his resolve, Adeleke emphasized that Tinubu’s principles align with due process, condemning the actions of Osun APC as contradictory to the President’s governance style. Adeleke’s unwavering stance echoes throughout Osun State, promising relentless efforts to reclaim misappropriated public assets.
