Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke Olawale Rasheed, has firmly denied allegations of certificate forgery. In a statement released in Osogbo on Tuesday, Rasheed emphasized the need for clarification following a component of the Osun Election Petitions Tribunal’s judgment that suggested forgery against Adeleke. He asserted that the public should be aware that Adeleke did not forge his testimonial or any other certificate, labeling the claim as an attempt to tarnish the governor’s reputation.

Rasheed’s statement addressed what he described as a “sinister component” of the tribunal’s ruling regarding the Osun Governorship election. He clarified that the issue of forgery stemmed from an error on a school testimonial, which incorrectly listed Osun State instead of Oyo State. He explained that Osun was part of Oyo State when Governor Adeleke completed his high school education in 1981. Furthermore, the issuing school had testified before the Court of Appeal in 2018, acknowledging their mistake, which had no connection to Governor Adeleke.

The Court of Appeal had previously ruled that there was no forgery and had exonerated Governor Adeleke from any wrongdoing. Rasheed reiterated that the governor did not forge the testimonial or any certificate, reiterating that the allegations were an attempt to damage his reputation. He called on the tribunal chairman to clarify how he reached his conclusions, given that the Court of Appeal had already cleared Governor Adeleke of any forgery.
