Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima, in a passionate address at the 10th Annual Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Lecture, staunchly defended the decision to relocate departments and units of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from Abuja to Lagos. Represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Shettima emphasized that the move is in the best interest of all Nigerians, not just a particular region.
Speaking at the event themed “Creating Pathways for Peace: Tackling Banditry and Insurgency through Good Governance for Sustainable Development in Nigeria,” Shettima addressed the recent opposition to the relocation, asserting that the government’s decision is not sectional and will not disadvantage any geographical location within the nation.
He lambasted the critics, labeling them as mischief makers and urging them to refrain from opposing the relocation process, emphasizing that it is a beneficial move for the entire country.
This staunch defense by the Vice President comes amidst growing debate and dissent over the relocation of the departments and holds significant weight in the ongoing discourse. Shettima’s resolute stance serves as a testament to the administration’s commitment to policies geared towards national development and unity.
