British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua has expressed his desire to fight both Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder before the end of 2023. The former two-time unified heavyweight champion is currently in a rebuilding phase after experiencing setbacks, having lost three out of his last five fights, including two against Oleksandr Usyk. To facilitate this transition, Joshua is considering relocating his training camp to the United States for a change of scenery.

His promoter, Eddie Hearn, is planning Joshua’s return to the ring on April 1, with the likely opponent being durable contender Jermaine Franklin. Joshua, who holds a record of 24 wins and 3 losses with 22 knockouts, stated, “It won’t be hard to find an opponent to fight me.” If Joshua successfully navigates his return fight, he aims to quickly ascend back to the top of the heavyweight division with a significant bout against either Fury or Wilder. He remarked, “(Fury) or (Deontay) Wilder in 2023. Both of them will be a good night and a hard night’s work. But yeah, 2023 is (Fury or Wilder – or potentially both).”

Over the years, Joshua has been in discussions to face both Wilder and Fury. His team has made considerable progress in negotiating with Fury’s camp, although initial interest has often faltered due to various factors. When asked if the chances of a fight with Fury were over, Joshua remained optimistic about the possibility of a super fight. “In my heart, no (it’s not over). But if you listen to what (Fury) says, it’s up and down. But I’m sure he’ll fight me. I don’t think his dad will let him not fight me. His dad’s a proper guy; I like his dad. So yeah,” Joshua commented.

Hearn has also indicated that he wants Joshua to fight three times this year, suggesting Dillian Whyte as a potential opponent in the summer, followed by Wilder afterward. Joshua has previously stated that a fight with Wilder “has to happen” since they are both from the same era.
