Shooting Stars chairman Taiwo Salami has declared satisfaction with the club’s recruitment drive ahead of the 2026-27 season, stating the squad is significantly stronger than last year’s edition while confirming that two or three additional signings are still targeted before the campaign begins.
Speaking on a radio programme in Ibadan, Salami said the Oluyole Warriors have been deliberate in their transfer business. “I can boldly say I am satisfied with the level of recruitment done by the club for the new season,” he said. “I might not say 100 percent but 90 percent as we are hopeful of adding two or three new players more to the squad. I can say we have a far better squad than last season as we are very intentional with our signings in this transfer window.”
The Ibadan-based side will open their domestic campaign against newly promoted Inter Lagos at home. Beyond the Nigeria Premier Football League, Shooting Stars are also set to feature in the CAF Confederation Cup, marking a return to continental competition.
Salami’s assessment suggests a strategic approach aimed at balancing immediate competitiveness with squad depth for a dual schedule. The club’s management appears focused on integrating new arrivals quickly to gel before the season opener, while the pending signings could address specific tactical needs identified by the technical crew.
