PDP Rejects Rerun Election Result in Sokoto’s Tambuwal West Constituency

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of Sokoto State has refused to accept the outcome of the recent rerun election in Tambuwal West Constituency, labeling it as blatant theft. According to the party’s state spokesperson, Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, the winners of the other two contested seats were congratulated in a statement released on Sunday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Dahiru Bashir Ahmed, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the victor in Tambuwal West Constituency, securing 19,315 votes. This defeated PDP’s Hantsi Sule Romo, who garnered 19,021 votes.

The PDP alleged that the Tambuwal West result was the result of blatant interference by prominent figures in the Sokoto State Government, who seized a ballot box at a polling unit already won by the PDP and altered the results in favor of the APC candidate.

The party extended its congratulations to the members-elect for Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency, Umar Yusuf Yabo, and Bodinga North State Constituency in the State Assembly, Abubakar Magaji, for securing victory in their respective rerun elections.

Furthermore, the statement highlighted the party’s admiration for its supporters across the constituencies and throughout Sokoto State, acknowledging their efforts and dedication despite intimidation by representatives of the Sokoto State Government, who were intent on manipulating the process in favor of the APC candidates.
