Charles Idahosa, a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused certain national officers of the party from APC-controlled northern states of exacerbating the ongoing crisis within the Edo State party chapter.

Speaking in Abuja at a meeting hosted by the PDP’s national Vice-Chairman, Dan Orbih, Idahosa claimed that these leaders were “acting as mercenaries bent on selling the soul of the party in Edo to the highest bidder.”

The allegations come on the heels of controversies surrounding the recent election of ward ad-hoc delegates in Edo, with nine aspirants protesting the election’s outcome. Idahosa emphasized the seriousness of the issues raised by the aspirants and warned that failure to address them promptly would result in the demise of the PDP in Edo.

A former Political Adviser during former Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s administration, Idahosa alleged that the crisis in the party was driven by PDP officials from core northern states presently under the control of the APC. He suggested that these officials, having failed to deliver their states to the PDP, were now focused on capitalizing on the situation in Edo.

In a stern warning, Idahosa directed the national vice-chairman to convey his message to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party. He emphasized that failure to rectify the situation would spell doom for the PDP in Edo, stating, “I, Charles Idahosa, say if they don’t do the right thing and correct this anomaly, PDP is dead in Edo.”
