Jigawa Assembly confirms Salisu Audu as chairman of anti corruption agency

The Jigawa House of Assembly has officially confirmed Salisu Abdu as the chairman of the state Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission. The confirmation comes after the adoption of a motion by the Majority Leader, Lawan Muhammad, at the Committee of the Whole in Dutse. During the session, Mr. Muhammad highlighted the nominee’s qualifications for the position and requested the confirmation of two other individuals, Hassan Hashim and Musa Kallamu-Auyo, as permanent members of the commission’s board. The commission’s establishment bill was previously approved by the House in 2022, paving the way for the recent confirmations. The sitting, presided over by Speaker Haruna Aliyu, solidified the appointments. The developments mark a significant step in Jigawa’s efforts to tackle corruption, signaling a new chapter in the state’s governance and accountability.
