Nigerian Meteorological Agency Forecasts Haze and Thunderstorms Across the Country

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has forecasted haziness and thunderstorms across Nigeria from Thursday to Saturday. NiMet’s weather outlook issued in Abuja on Wednesday predicts moderate dust haze on Thursday with visibility between 2km and 5km. It also anticipates localized visibility of less than 1km over the northern parts throughout the three-day period.

NiMet further mentioned that there will be slight dust haze over the North Central region with patches of cloud over parts of Kogi, Benue, and Kwara. The forecast includes a cloudy atmosphere with spells of sunshine over inland states and isolated thunderstorms over parts of Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Lagos, and Ogun during the afternoon and evening hours.

“Thick dust haze is anticipated over the northern parts on Friday,” NiMet added. The agency advised the use of face masks due to the presence of dust particles in the atmosphere. Additionally, NiMet stressed that airline operators should obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning of their operations.

With the forecast from NiMet, it is essential for citizens and operators to remain informed and prepared for the expected weather conditions.
