Nuno Espirito Santo: Awoniyi’s Fitness Still a Concern for Nottingham Forest

Speaking about Taiwo Awoniyi’s recent performance, Nottingham Forest Manager Nuno Espirito Santo acknowledged that the player is still not at full fitness despite his notable scoring achievements. Awoniyi made a comeback in January after a three-month hiatus due to a groin injury. His impressive goal in Forest’s 2-0 victory against West Ham United showcased his talent, marking his second goal since returning from injury. Santo emphasized the importance of carefully managing the 26-year-old’s fitness for the rest of the season, recognizing that scoring is not the only aspect of a striker’s role. He mentioned the need for Awoniyi to work hard and understand the game while dealing with fitness struggles. The Nigerian international has amassed six goals in 14 league appearances for Nottingham Forest this season.
