We have received N18.6bn from FG for road repairs – Cross River govt

The Commissioner for Works in Cross River State, Dane Osim has confirmed that the ministry received N18.6 billion from the federal government to fix some Trunk A roads in parts of the state.

Osim explained that the amount covers interventions done by previous governments of Donald Duke, Liyel Imoke and Ben Ayade.

Osim disclosed this during a ministerial press briefing in Calabar.

The commissioner said out of the eleven Trunk A roads, the state government rehabilitated nine which were in very poor state.

“We still have outstanding refunds as we are still intervening. We are requesting that Federal Government expedite actions on the Calabar-Uyo federal road.

“There are many other Trunk A roads built in about 1968 which today have failed and we plead that they should be rehabilitated.”

He also disclosed the state government’s efforts on its signature project of 280km superhighway road, explaining that the government has since done the initial debushing from Bakassi to the fringes of Benue State.
