Nottingham Forest Manager Confirms Awoniyi’s New Injury Setback

Nottingham Forest’s manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, expressed hope that Taiwo Awoniyi’s recent injury setback against West Ham United will not lead to an extended period on the sidelines. Awoniyi, who scored Forest’s second goal in a 2-0 victory, was substituted in the 67th minute due to the injury.

“We have to assess him and see how he is. We all know he has been struggling for a long time, and hadn’t played much,” Santo stated, revealing the team’s concern for Awoniyi’s recurrent injury issues. “We hope it’s nothing serious.”

Awoniyi, a Nigeria international, has faced ongoing injury challenges since joining Nottingham Forest in 2022. The 26-year-old recently made a comeback from a groin injury that required surgery. Despite these setbacks, he has managed to score six goals in 14 league appearances for the Tricky Trees this season.
