The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has sternly cautioned police officers against misusing his name for personal gain through extortion. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, conveyed the IGP’s message, highlighting the detrimental impact of such actions on public trust and the reputation of the Police Force.
Egbetokun emphasized that any officer caught leveraging his name for fraudulent activities would face severe disciplinary action. He urged the public to report any attempts to exploit his name for dishonest purposes, particularly in the context of ongoing investigations.
The IGP reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to eradicating misconduct and ensuring accountability under his leadership. He called on Nigerians to promptly report incidents of extortion or fraudulent behavior, assuring thorough investigations and strict sanctions for officers found guilty of misconduct.
