Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, one of the 11 All Progressives Congress governorship aspirants in Edo State, is calling for reforms within the party as they gear up for the September governorship election. Agbomhere, who expressed his willingness to support the party’s chosen candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, spoke out in Abuja amidst a brewing crisis over the election results.
Senator Okpebholo emerged victorious with 12,433 votes, defeating Agbomhere, Edo federal lawmaker Dennis Idahosa, and nine other aspirants after a previous poll was declared inconclusive. However, some aspirants, led by Idahosa, have rejected the results, with Idahosa even threatening legal action against the National Working Committee of the party for canceling the initial primary.
Despite the controversy, Agbomhere maintained his sportsmanship, acknowledging Okpebholo’s win and emphasizing the need for unity within the party. He called on the State APC Chairman, Jarret Tenebe, to implement reforms and bring together all disgruntled members as they work towards reclaiming Edo State from the Peoples Democratic Party.
Agbomhere commended Tenebe for his handling of the primaries and the aftermath, praising his political acumen. He expressed his readiness to support Tenebe in his efforts to lead the party to victory in the upcoming election. Additionally, Agbomhere pledged his support to Senator Okpebholo, vowing to work towards a landslide victory for the APC in September.
As the political landscape in Edo State heats up, Agbomhere’s call for unity and reform within the party serves as a reminder of the importance of solidarity in the face of challenges. With the September election looming, the APC must come together to present a strong and united front to secure victory at the polls.
