Naira scarcity: Police, bank CSOs meet in Lagos

The Lagos Police Command on Friday met with Chief Security Officers (CSOs) of banks in the state over the scarcity of naira notes.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin, announced that the meeting took place in Ikeja, where Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alabi advised financial institutions on measures to take as anger rages over the non-availability of currency.

CP Alabi also urged banks to devise policies that would preempt the breakdown of law and order among the banking public.

Hundeyin said the meeting was necessitated by the rising cases of brawls and free-for-all at various bank branches in Lagos.

The police encouraged the CSOs to do all within legal means to prevent any breach of public peace in their respective domains.

The security agency assures it is monitoring the situation surrounding the new naira notes and will continue to prioritize the safety and security of the public.
