The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has urged the panel members investigating the N30tn “Ways and Means” loans obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria by the Federal Government to leave no stone unturned. The panel has also been tasked with probing the over N1tn Anchor Borrower Programme of the CBN under the previous administration.

Inaugurating the 17-member Ad-hoc Committee in Abuja, Akpabio emphasized the importance of the investigation and urged the committee to spend six weeks on the exercise. He stressed the need for the lawmakers to focus on the task at hand, maintain impartiality, and engage with relevant stakeholders and consultants for valuable insights.

Akpabio highlighted the significance of transparency, accountability, and good governance in the investigation, urging the committee members to approach their responsibilities with patriotism, professionalism, and integrity. He emphasized the importance of conducting thorough inquiries to assist the Senate in making laws for the betterment of the country.

The Chairman of the ad-hoc committee, Jibrin Isah, assured Nigerians that the panel would not fail in its duty. He acknowledged the public interest in the Ways and Means and Anchor Borrower Programme, promising to carry out the assignment expeditiously without compromise.
