The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Delta State has revealed that a staggering 6,225 permanent drivers’ licenses are yet to be collected in the state. Bassey Eshiet, the Sector Commander of FRSC, expressed concern over motorists who fail to retrieve their licenses after processing them.

Despite efforts by the FRSC staff to reach out to license owners through their next of kin, many still neglect to pick up their licenses. Some individuals become complacent with their temporary licenses, while others simply do not prioritize collecting their permanent licenses due to busy schedules.

In response to this issue, the FRSC plans to conduct a joint operation to inspect drivers’ licenses in Asaba. The command is also ramping up public awareness campaigns through motor parks, churches, and media outlets to encourage drivers with temporary licenses to retrieve their permanent licenses at the designated motor licensing office.

Eshiet emphasized the importance of possessing a valid driver’s license for safe driving practices in Nigeria. He warned that driving without a license not only endangers the lives of road users but also constitutes a serious traffic violation.

It is crucial for all drivers to comply with the legal requirement of holding a valid driver’s license while operating a vehicle on Nigerian roads. Failure to do so not only poses risks to road safety but also subjects offenders to potential legal consequences. Let’s ensure road safety by adhering to the regulations and securing our driver’s licenses promptly.
