A member of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Tolu Bankole, described the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as a patriot devoted to the welfare of the masses. In a statement released in Abuja on Friday, Bankole highlighted Tinubu’s concern over the lingering fuel crisis and the scarcity of new naira notes, noting that these issues show he is not desperate to become president.

The disability‑rights advocate said, “The strong position expressed by our party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a demonstration of commitment to a better Nigeria and its endless possibilities. True patriotism implies a deep love for one’s country that not only desires the best for fellow citizens but also demands that the nation pursue its goals with honesty and empathy.” He added that Tinubu has displayed an ineffable love unequalled in political history, choosing to empathise with people who have endured untold hardship.

Bankole argued that the easier option for most party faithful would be to give uncritical approval to all government programmes, regardless of how uncomfortable they may be for political correctness. He praised Tinubu’s willingness to confront and speak out against policies he considers “anti‑masses,” calling this selflessness especially valuable at a critical moment. “Tinubu is not desperate to be President,” Bankole said, noting that the candidate’s actions at this stage of the political experience testify to his unparalleled leadership.

Finally, Bankole asserted that Tinubu’s “pure heart, love for Nigerians, and commitment to improving the welfare and well‑being of all citizens” will drive his Renewed Hope agenda, helping to tame insecurity, tackle unemployment, and turn the economy around for shared prosperity.
