The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set the bar high for potential candidates in the upcoming Ondo governorship election, with the price for Expression of Interest and Nomination forms set at a hefty N10 million and N40 million, respectively. This announcement came as part of the timetable released to outline the activities leading up to the selection of the APC candidate on April 25, 2024.

According to the timetable, the sale of nomination forms will commence on April 3 and conclude on April 10, 2024, with the primary election scheduled for April 25, 2024. The party also made provisions for female aspirants and persons with disabilities, stating that they only need to pay for the Expression of Interest form, while the Nomination Form is free of charge.

In a move to encourage youth participation, the APC announced a 50% discount on Nomination Forms for youths aged 25 to 40, further emphasizing inclusivity within the party.

Notable contenders vying for the APC ticket in Ondo State include Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, former Commissioner for Finance Wale Akinterinwa, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim representing Ondo South. Ondo, along with Edo, is among the eight states holding off-season governorship elections due to ongoing litigations and court rulings. The other states in this category are Anambra, Bayelsa, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, and Osun.

As the political landscape in Nigeria continues to evolve, the APC’s stringent selection process for the Ondo governorship election underscores the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the electoral process. Stay tuned for more updates as the race for the APC ticket heats up in Ondo State.
