The Labour Party is currently in a state of turmoil and uncertainty, as the Board of Trustees has announced that it is taking control of the party’s operations. This decision comes in the wake of a controversial national convention held in Nnewi, Anambra, where Julius Abure was re-elected as the national chairman. In a statement released by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Comrade S. O. Z. Ejiofor, it was made clear that the BoT does not recognize the outcome of the national convention. The BoT cited the expiration of the previous National Working Committee’s tenure as the reason for their intervention, stating that they are stepping in to prevent any leadership vacuum within the party. Moving forward, the Board of Trustees, in collaboration with key stakeholders, will soon outline the procedures for conducting a comprehensive and inclusive National Convention for the Labour Party. The BoT has reassured all concerned parties of their dedication to revitalizing and repositioning the Labour Party as a platform for the social and political empowerment of the nation and its working class. This development marks a significant turning point for the Labour Party, as it navigates through internal challenges and strives to regain its footing in the political landscape. Stay tuned for further updates on this unfolding story.
