The Defence Headquarters has reported significant successes in various military operations across Nigeria, with troops neutralizing 121 terrorists, apprehending 253 suspects, and rescuing 244 kidnapped hostages in just one week. This update was provided by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, in Abuja.
In the North East region, troops of Operation Hadin Kai eliminated 52 terrorists, arrested 137 individuals, and rescued 78 hostages. They also recovered a substantial amount of weapons, including rifles and ammunition.
Moving to the North Central, operations by troops of Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke resulted in the killing of 47 terrorists, the arrest of 17 suspects, and the rescue of four kidnap victims. Additionally, a cache of arms was recovered in the region.
In the North West, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji successfully neutralized 62 terrorists, arrested 12 others, and rescued 162 kidnapped hostages. Various weapons and ammunition were also seized during these operations.
The air component of Operation Hadarin Daji conducted airstrikes on terrorist enclaves in Katsina State, leading to the destruction of terrorist hideouts and logistical bases.
In the Niger Delta, Operation Delta Safe recovered a significant amount of stolen crude oil and destroyed numerous illegal refining sites, boats, and storage tanks. Suspected oil thieves were apprehended, and weapons and ammunition were seized.
In the South East, troops of Operation UDO KA apprehended suspected violent extremists, raided IPOB/ESN camps, and neutralized 11 terrorists. They also recovered weapons, ammunition, and vehicles during these operations.
All recovered items, arrested suspects, and rescued hostages have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.
