In the first quarter of the year, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kaduna State made significant strides in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse. Commander Samaila Danmalam reported that a total of 279 suspects were apprehended, with 39 illicit drug joints dismantled across the state. The operations resulted in the seizure of a staggering 2,092.5kg of illicit substances, including cocaine, heroin, cannabis, Tramadol, Methamphetamine, and other psychotropic substances.

Furthermore, the command achieved 48 convictions, arraigned 68 suspects, and charged 34 others during this period. In addition to enforcement efforts, the NDLEA conducted rehabilitation, counseling, and awareness campaigns to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking.

Commander Danmalam emphasized the importance of community support in combating this pervasive issue, urging citizens to reject illicit drugs and provide valuable information to aid law enforcement efforts. The NDLEA’s commitment to safeguarding the well-being of the community remains unwavering, as they continue to work tirelessly to ensure a drug-free environment for all residents of Kaduna State.
