A former spokesperson for the Atiku-Okowa presidential campaign council, Daniel Bwala, has made startling claims about the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi. According to Bwala, Obi is facing a dilemma of his own making, as he considers leaving the party before the 2027 general elections.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, has expressed his frustration with the leadership crisis within the LP, which is embroiled in a power struggle between Lamidi Apapa and Julius Abure. Additionally, the party is facing an ownership crisis, with the Nigeria Labour Congress laying claim to its leadership.

Bwala pointed out that Obi’s plan to join the Social Democratic Party may not be as straightforward as he hopes, as the party does not offer automatic tickets. This has put Obi in a difficult position, as he may struggle to secure a delegate election victory due to his lack of grassroots political support.

In a social media post, Bwala highlighted the challenges Obi faces in rebranding himself for the upcoming elections. He mentioned that Obi has been advised to reach out to northern Nigeria and Muslim communities to dispel any notions of identity politics. However, foreign media outlets are skeptical about Obi’s chances of success, based on their analysis of his previous campaign.

Despite these obstacles, Obi’s loyal supporters, known as the ‘Obedient’ people, have made it clear that they will not support any merger that jeopardizes his presidential aspirations. As a result, Obi finds himself torn between maintaining his base of supporters and navigating the complexities of Nigerian politics.

In conclusion, Peter Obi’s political future hangs in the balance as he grapples with internal party strife, external pressures, and the need to redefine his public image. Only time will tell if he can overcome these challenges and emerge as a viable candidate in the upcoming elections.
