Former CBN Governor Emefiele Allegedly Instructed Rider to Collect $3M Cash: Shocking Revelations in Court

In a stunning revelation at the Special Offences Court in Lagos, dispatch rider Monday Osazuwa shared how former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, instructed him to collect $3 million in cash in multiple installments. Osazuwa, who worked at Zenith Bank before joining the CBN, detailed his experiences as a senior supervisor in Emefiele’s office, where he would deliver the cash to Emefiele’s residence in Ikoyi.

The witness, led by EFCC counsel Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), testified that he never received any reward for his services, doing it out of loyalty to Emefiele. Emefiele, who was arraigned on 23 counts of abuse of office, is facing allegations of fraud totaling $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion. Despite the charges, Emefiele was granted bail of N50 million by Justice Oshodi.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had suspended Emefiele in June the previous year, adding to the controversy surrounding the former CBN Governor. The case continues to unfold, shedding light on the intricate web of financial misconduct at the highest levels of power. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
