Kaduna State Assembly Speaker Warns Bello El Rufai Against Intimidation

The Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Liman, issued a stern warning to Bello El-Rufai, the son of former governor Nasir El-Rufai, regarding his attempts to intimidate and threaten the House during an investigation into his father’s tenure.

The state House of Assembly recently formed a committee to look into financial transactions, loans, grants, and project execution from 2015-2023 under the administration of ex-governor El-Rufai. Bello, who is also a federal lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, expressed his displeasure on social media, calling for a “fight” and disrespecting the legislative body.

In response, the Speaker emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and providing checks and balances in the state. He urged the people of Kaduna to support transparency and accountability while assuring them that the Assembly would continue to act in the best interests of the state.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly condemned Bello’s actions, stating that threats and intimidation would not deter them from seeking justice and accountability. They reassured the citizens of Kaduna that they would fulfill their duties without fear or favor, regardless of any attempts to undermine their work.

It is crucial for the state to uphold the integrity of its institutions and ensure that all public officials are held accountable for their actions. The Assembly remains committed to serving the people of Kaduna and upholding the principles of transparency and the rule of law.
