Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Ben Foster, has criticized Casemiro for his performance in the recent draw with Bournemouth. United fought back twice at the Vitality Stadium to secure a 2-2 draw, but the result has all but dashed their hopes of finishing in the top four, with Aston Villa now comfortably ahead by 13 points with only six games remaining in the season.

The second goal conceded by United came just before halftime, with Marcos Senesi allowed to advance with the ball before setting up Justin Kluivert for a goal. Foster believes that Casemiro, a holding midfielder, was at fault for the goal.

In a scathing assessment on his YouTube channel, Foster said, “The second goal, Casemiro, he’s a holding midfielder. He should be that engine, that disruptor in the midfield – someone who breaks up attacks and gets in people’s faces. The second goal, for me, is an absolute disgrace. He allowed the opposition player to wander into space and take a shot. Casemiro’s reaction was almost too little, too late. If I were the manager and my holding midfielder made that mistake, I would have substituted him immediately.”

The criticism from Foster highlights the importance of defensive discipline and awareness in the midfield, especially in crucial moments of the game. As United look to salvage their season and secure a strong finish, they will need to address these defensive lapses to avoid further disappointment.
