Heavy rains caused a security breach at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Niger State, on Wednesday night, allowing 118 inmates to escape.

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) confirmed the incident in a statement, revealing that the downpour damaged the facility’s infrastructure, including the perimeter fence.

Responding swiftly, the NCoS has recaptured 10 escapees and launched a manhunt for the remaining inmates. Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activity or sightings to security forces.
