Students at the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, expressed their displeasure over the arrest of their colleagues by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The incident occurred late on Thursday when EFCC operators from the Ibadan Zonal office conducted a midnight raid on hostels around the Owode-Ede area. Some students were apprehended during the operation and taken to the Ibadan zonal office of the anti-graft agency.

In response, unidentified students vandalized buildings within the polytechnic’s premises and damaged staff vehicles. Eyewitnesses reported that the protesters hurled pebbles at various structures, including the staff club. The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, condemned the vandalism and warned against disrupting the ongoing first-semester examination.

The institution’s spokesperson, Sola Lawal, emphasized that any students or fifth columnists disturbing the peace would face decisive action.
