Adeleke Wins 19 LGAs, Polls 511,067 Votes In Osun Governorship Election

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has secured victory in 19 of 30 local government areas in the Osun State governorship election, according to results announced during the collation process on Saturday. The incumbent governor polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who recorded 444,815 votes across the state. The margin of victory stands at 66,252 votes based on aggregated figures from all councils.

The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes. The election was conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission across the state, with results collated from each local government area.

Adeleke’s victories came in Boluwaduro, Ede South, Ife North, Ilesa West, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Orolu, Osogbo, Oriade, Odo-Otin, Ife East, Ifelodun, Iwo, Ede North, Ila, Aiyedire, Egbedore, Ayedaade and Ejigbo local government areas. Oyebamiji secured wins in Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun, Atakunmosa West, Irewole, Atakunmosa East, Isokan, Ola Oluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.

Throughout the collation process, Adeleke maintained a consistent lead in the number of councils won, ultimately taking 19 against Oyebamiji’s 11. The governor was seeking a second term under the Accord Party banner, while Oyebamiji represented the APC.

The outcome remains subject to formal declaration by INEC, which will certify the overall winner of the governorship contest. Election observers and party agents monitored the collation exercise at the state headquarters in Osogbo, where returning officers presented results from each local government area in sequence.

The election marks the second gubernatorial contest in Osun State since the 2022 poll that initially brought Adeleke to office. Voter turnout and the distribution of support across the state’s three senatorial districts will likely feature in post-election analysis as stakeholders assess the political landscape ahead of future electoral cycles.
