The Nigerian Army initiates an investigation into allegations raised in a viral audiovisual recording produced by detained personnel at the 8 Division Garrison detention facility in Sokoto. The detainees had broken out, demanding improved living conditions and better food.

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, expressed regret over the incident, emphasizing that mutiny and misconduct would not be tolerated. The Army pledges to look into the state of all detention facilities while warning of appropriate sanctions for unruly behavior.

The Army reassures its commitment to ensuring decent treatment for detainees awaiting sentencing, maintaining professional standards and a fair system. Appreciating public support, the Army remains focused on addressing security challenges in collaboration with other security agencies.
