Burna Boy Declares Himself Godfather of Nigerian Music

Grammy-winning singer Damini Ogulu, known as Burna Boy, has reignited the debate over who is the biggest artist in Nigeria with his bold claim on the remix of the viral South African song ‘Tshwala Bam’ by TitoM and Yuppe.

In the opening verse of the remix, released last week, Burna Boy declared, “As long as Naija la wa…Them they call me the Godfather,” asserting his dominance in the Nigerian music industry.

Burna Boy has been vocal about his leadership role in the industry, previously sparking controversy by calling himself the “blueprint” of Nigerian music after his Grammy win.

His colleague, Davido, has also claimed leadership of the Afrobeats genre. In his track titled ‘Godfather’ from his fourth studio album ‘Timeless,’ Davido asserted himself as the godfather of the Nigerian music industry.
