Bandits Attack Zurak Village in Plateau State, Killing Over 40

Bandits have reportedly attacked Zurak village in Bashar District of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing more than 40 persons, including vigilantes. The incident occurred around 5:00 pm on Monday, while residents were going about their normal activities, according to Daily Trust.

Residents of the community reported that the attack could not be immediately communicated due to poor network coverage in the area. A youth leader in the area, Sahpi’i Sambo, confirmed the attack, stating that the bandits arrived on motorcycles, armed with sophisticated weapons, and began shooting sporadically.

“More than 40 people were killed while many injured. Residents of the village have fled to neighbouring communities for cover. As of yesterday, security personnel had not yet arrived at the community. It was deadly,” Sambo said.

Security authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
