NEW ORLEANS — Rap icon Lil Wayne expressed confusion over reports of a Hot Boys reunion album, stating that he hasn’t been informed about any such plans. In an interview with the Not Just Football podcast, the New Orleans native seemed bewildered when host Cam Heyward asked about the group getting back together for a special project.
“Sh*t, you just told me! When they coming? When them boys coming? I need to go check it out — I’d love to see that!” Wayne exclaimed, indicating his surprise. Despite Heyward mentioning that fellow Hot Boys member Juvenile had announced the reunion and that an album was already in the works, Wayne insisted he was not in the loop.
“That’s what he saying? I ain’t been to the kitchen yet. I would not lie to you,” Wayne said, maintaining a clueless demeanor. “I have not been in that kitchen yet. I have no problem with going to that kitchen… but I ain’t smell it, it ain’t come through the window yet. I ain’t smell the food… They ain’t told me nothing yet… But I’m outside, I’m outside, I’ll go into the kitchen if the smell it through the window.”
Wayne did, however, provide an update on his much-anticipated album, Tha Carter 6. He confirmed that the album is complete but is undergoing final edits due to an excess of songs. The rapper also shared his dream collaborations, mentioning his admiration for Michael Jackson and Prince.
Juvenile had previously mentioned the Hot Boys reunion during an Instagram Live session in May. He confirmed that the group, which includes Turk and B.G., along with Lil Wayne, was indeed planning a comeback now that B.G. has been released from prison. Juvenile assured fans that the reunion and new album were on the way.
“Hot Boys is back together, man,” Juvenile said on Instagram Live. “What you talkin’ about put the Hot Boys back together? Show y’all ain’t keeping up with sh*t. Turk gonna be with me tonight, I’m gonna be with B.G. next week. Me, Wayne, Turk, and B.G., all of us gonna be on stage in New Orleans with Mannie Fresh and Birdman. And we already done started working on a Hot Boys album. Any other fking questions? Keep on askin’ put the Hot Boys together. Have some fkin’ patience.”
