Rod Argent of The Zombies Thanks Fans After Stroke Recovery

In a heartfelt statement, Rod Argent, the founding member and keyboardist of the iconic British rock band The Zombies, has expressed his gratitude to fans after recovering from a stroke.

Argent, 79, was hospitalized after celebrating his 79th birthday in London with his wife of 52 years. Although he was released the next day, doctors advised him to take several months of rest and recuperation. As a result, Argent has made the difficult decision to retire from touring to protect his health.

In his statement, Argent thanked fans for their outpouring of love and support, saying, “I am absolutely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support that has happened in response to the news of my having suffered a stroke three weeks ago. I have read every post, and have to thank you so much.”

The Zombies have canceled their upcoming tour dates, but Argent plans to continue writing and recording music with the band. He has already returned to his piano for some “much-needed ‘Bach therapy.'” It is unclear if the band will reschedule shows in the US.

The current lineup of The Zombies includes original singer Colin Blunstone, who is also 79. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 and was a key part of the British Invasion scene in the 1960s, producing hits like “She’s Not There,” “Tell Her No,” and “Time of the Season.”
