Atiku Spokesman Brands Peter Obi a Political Jobber

Former Atiku Spokesman Attacks Peter Obi, Calls Him a “Political Jobber”

Daniel Bwala, a former spokesman of Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has launched a scathing attack on Peter Obi, the ex-Labour Party presidential candidate. In a series of social media posts, Bwala described Obi as a “political jobber,” predicting that the former LP candidate will soon join the ranks of other political chameleons who change parties to further their own interests.

Bwala’s outburst came after Isaac Balami, another former LP supporter, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The former spokesman noted that Obi, a self-proclaimed loyalist, has a history of switching political parties. According to Bwala, Obi began his political career in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), before joining the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and then returning to PDP, only to later join the Labour Party.

Bwala’s rant was in response to Obi’s supporters, known as the “Obidients,” who have been fiercely defending the former LP candidate. However, Bwala believes that Obi’s party-hopping ways demonstrate his lack of ideological commitment and his willingness to prioritize his own interests over the principles of the political parties he claims to represent.

Despite his criticism, Bwala remained optimistic about Obi’s prospects, predicting that he would eventually follow the path of other party-hoppers like Doyin Okupe and Kenneth Okonkwo. According to Bwala, this would be because of two reasons: a desire to “rally around our president at this difficult time as he re-directs the ship Nigeria” and the fact that Obi’s Labour Party is, in his opinion, a shell entity or Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), rather than a genuine political party.

In the eyes of Bwala, Obi’s supporters are not genuine advocates for change, but rather gullible followers who have been led astray by their charismatic leader. According to Bwala, this explains why Obi and his supporters often resort to threats and intimidation, rather than engaging in constructive debate or offering innovative solutions to Nigeria’s complex problems.

Regardless of the outcome of the controversy, one thing is clear: Bwala’s attack on Peter Obi has generated significant attention and raised questions about the true nature of political allegiance and party loyalty in Nigeria.
