Nigeria’s Civil Service Head Prioritizes Employee Well-being for Improved Productivity
Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Federal Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF), has emphasized the significance of taking good care of civil servants. The Nigerian government official made these remarks during an unscheduled visit to the Federal Ministry of Justice, accompanied by her team of Transformative Permanent Secretaries from various ministries.
The impromptu visit aimed to assess the progress of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 reform initiatives. Yemi-Esan highlighted the importance of providing a fulfilling work environment for civil servants, stating, “When they are well taken care of, the Service reaps the result of their increased productivity.”
The Permanent Secretary and Solicitor General of the Federation, Jedy-Agba, expressed gratitude for her Ministry being the first to undergo the implementation status review exercise. She also described the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP25) as an outstanding reform program, which serves as a roadmap for driving change and improving service delivery.
As part of the review, Jedy-Agba presented the Ministry’s scorecard on the implementation of FCSSIP25, focusing on various pillars, including:
